During the Experience Edo: Work Experience event, participating children wander all over old Edo town dressed as Shinsen-gumi warriors, ninjas, or torikata police constables, gaining some idea of the experience of these respective jobs.

Dates:	Event held every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday, and every day during summer vacation period
Roles available:	Shinsen-gumi warriors, ninjas, or torikata police constables Participants: Maximum 30 participants for each of the 3 roles (fewer in event of rain)
Age:	Between 5 and 12 years
Time required:	Between 40 and 60 minutes (40 minutes during summertime)
Registration:	Next to Oedo Tenmangu, within the town

※Numbers for each role will be resolved in order of application, up to the maximum number of participants.

During the Edo period, dyeing using indigo (kon in Japanese) was widely practiced. Visitors can experience this process for themselves here.
Participants draw whatever design they like on a white handkerchief, and then dye these patterns into the fabric using vivid indigo dyes. After washing, you just have to wait for them to dry. Create your own memories of Nikko Edomura!

Cost:	800 yen per session (1 white handkerchief)
Time required:	Around 40 minutes (drawing patterns, dyeing, and washing) (After washing, your handkerchief will require some time to dry.)

※Creating your pattern is simple using rubber bands.
(If you have more time to spend, you can also sew patterns using cotton thread.)

The role you instinctively select from the various choices (samurai, ninja, Shinsen-gumi, merchant, Oiran, town maiden) may indicate who you were in a previous life! Once you put on the costumes and wigs, your heart and soul will travel to Edo. And don't hesitate to start up a conversation with the fellow Edo citizens you encounter in the streets. It could be the beginning of a fun new tale of Edo.
